This six week class is recommended for people who have attended an introduction or a day long workshop in Compassionate Communication and are wanting to integrate the new skills they have learned in an experiential learning atmosphere. Here is an opportunity to integrate and practice NVC with like-minded people!

Join us for this 6-week class that will show you to use four of the most powerful tools of

Compassionate Communication:

  • speaking honestly, openly and authentically

  • deep listening with a heart of compassion

  • giving and receiving expressions of gratitude

  • self-compassion and disarming your inner critic

The class is open to anyone who wants to develop their communication skills in order to have
a more meaningful and effective relationships with friends, family members and co-workers.
Participants will have a chance to learn and practice how to:

  • speak in a way that inspires compassion and understanding

  • initiate difficult conversations with more ease and confidence

  • remain centered and peaceful while hearing difficult messages

  • express anger fully, safely and respectfully - yet powerfully

  • shift patterns of thinking that lead to depression, guilt, shame

  • enliven yourself by expressing and receiving gratitude

  • translate criticism, judgments and blame into life-serving messages

  • inspire others to change their behavior willingly

About the Facilitators:

Pat De Silva (pictured right) was drawn to Compassionate Communication after becoming a grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters and finding her old parenting style painful and unfulfilling. Since learning about NVC, she has embraced its principles and longs to share the deep gifts of connection she has experienced. She is currently a candidate for Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication. Prior to learning about NVC she was a hospital RN and educator for 31 years predominately in the ICU. She lives in Canal Winchester, Ohio with her husband and is Logistics Manager at Compassionate Communication Center of Ohio. 

Teresa Speakman (pictured above/ far right) discovered Compassionate Communication while studying various philosophies of Compassion, and pursuit of personal healing. Teresa holds a Master's Degree in Organizational Communication with a special interest in Compassionate Communication in the workplace, and teaches Public Speaking and Human Communication at Ohio University Lancaster, and is a Laughter Yoga Leader. Teresa is also a candidate for certification with CNVC,  Operations Manager for CCCO, as well as a mother of six adult children, grandmother to 3, and enjoys the company of her adopted dogs & chickens.
