This six week class is designed for beginners, and people who have attended an introduction or a day long workshop in Compassionate Communication and are wanting to integrate the
new skills they have learned in an experiential learning atmosphere.
Here is an opportunity to integrate and practice NVC with like-minded people!
This flows well following our day long training Speak Peace in Difficult Conversations on June 10th

Join us for this 6-week class Compassionate Communication:
The class is open to anyone who wants to develop their communication skills in order to have
a more meaningful and effective relationships with friends, family members and co-workers.
Topics that will be explored:
- Empathy for understanding and connection vs. language that inhibits connection
- Different ways of hearing a message and its affects on our relationships
- Moving from negative self talk, guilt and shame to self care, healing and empowerment
- The surprising purpose of anger
- Mourning, Gratitude and celebration
About the Facilitators:
Pat De Silva (pictured right) was drawn to Compassionate Communication after becoming a grandmother of two beautiful granddaughters and finding her old parenting style painful and unfulfilling. Since learning about NVC, she has embraced its principles and longs to share the deep gifts of connection she has experienced. She is currently a candidate for Certified Trainer with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, and is the Logistics Coordinator for Compassionate Communication Center of Ohio. Prior to learning about NVC she was a hospital RN and educator for 31 years predominately in the ICU. She lives in Canal Winchester, Ohio with her husband.
Teresa Speakman (pictured bottom right) first heard of Compassionate Communication while exploring various philosophies of Compassion, and in pursuit of personal healing. Teresa earned her Master's Degree in Organizational Communication with a special interest in Compassionate Communication in the workplace, and teaches Public Speaking and Human Communication at Ohio University Lancaster. Teresa is a candidate for Certification with the Center for Nonviolent Communication, and is a trainer with Compassionate Communication Center of Ohio.
